Welcome to the wonderful world of architecture. In this lesson you will learn a little about the architecture of the Greeks and take a look at how architecture can be used to make artistic statements.
To start, make sure you have the question sheet that I handed out at the beginning of class. Complete each section of this webquest in order, and be sure to read all directions.
Greek Temples

Right-click on this link and click "open in a new window. Read the first page. Click on the link that says "Doric style" and read that page. Answer questions 1 and 2 on your questions sheet.
Now go back to the page titled "Ancient Greek Architecture" and click on the link that says "More about Greek Architecture." Read the first paragraph. Answer question 3.
Click on the link that says "Ionic Style" and read about it. Answer question 4.
Go back and read the last three paragraphs. Answer question 5.
Finally, click on the link about Corinthian architecture. Read the page and answer question 6.
Now for the fun part! Imagine you are going to build a library with Greek columns around it. Right click on this link and click "open in a new window". Follow the directions on the page to make your own column. Think about what you want people to feel when they see your library as you make the column. Answer question 7.
Architecture can be used to make people think in certain ways, or about certain things. Look at these pictures and answer the questions about them.
